Brown Eyes

Brown eyes, brown eyes …brown eyes of mine
You see the life I left behind
When I tracked the deer through fields of snow
Brown eyes, brown eyes, you led me home
And I need you now, ‘cause I’m lost again
In canyons full of cold and lonely men
There’s no tribe they answer to
And I’m afraid I’m one of them

Brown eyes, brown eyes …brown eyes of mine
You knew my life ..the one I left behind
When I drew my arrows; threw my knives of stone
Brown eyes of mine you sent them home

I wipe your tears from across the years
I see battle grounds and soldiers in my dreams
I feel the thunder as my people run
I fall and an eagle carries me
No one believes I can see
How I died on Sacred ground
My teepee’s glass, my horse is steel
My tribe is gone so what is real ?

Brown eyes, brown eyes, brown eyes of mine
You see the life I left behind
When I tracked the deer, through fields of snow
Brown eyes of mine you led me home

You see beyond this flesh and bone
Brown eyes of mine teach me to know
That I’m never lost, that I’m not alone
And in every life ..I am home
In every life ..I am home
